Contra Does Feature Film.
More than just a video production company! Feature films too…
Contra’s Head of Film, John Ford was recently approached by talented friend, long term collaborator and Cinematographer Jamie Quantrill to work on an exciting new feature film with Director Dan Sayer.
Having worked together on a number of stunning short films (‘Me and Mine’ – Directed by Lucy Beech), in addition to an impressive variety of award winning promotional videos (Cambridge in Numbers) John Ford was delighted to be offered the chance to explore long form narrative:
“It’s a chance to really get your head into a story. To unpack the characters and their journey and spend a decent amount of time working with such a talented crew. This type of project refines us as film makers – working alongside talented Cinematographers such as Jamie is a great way to develop and grow as a film maker.”
For Jamie, it was exciting to start seeing his vision realised:
“Having spent a couple of years thinking and planning, myself and Dan Sayer have a very clear idea of how the film’s world should look and feel. But going into production it was critical to find a talented crew with the ideas and energy to carry it off. I was particulary happy when John Ford agreed to come onboard with me once again. Having him as part of the team gives me the quiet confidence to really push for the shot I need.”
Production is well under way and will look to wrap toward the end of 2015 – so expect a release and further details early 2016.
