Animation for the BBC
Earlier this year Contra were approached by the fine folk over at BBC introducing. We were asked to produce a series of animations some of their up and coming talent.
We were delighted to hear that our first artist was the hugely talented Jack Garratt. Our animation was viewed over 75,000 times in its first month of release. The Head of music at the BBC, Bob Shannon said:
“It is very very stylish. I love it.”
The film was spread widely on social media by BBC listeners, well known BBC employees and the artist Jack Garratt himself. The film has played a part in increasing Jack’s popularity; a month after its release he went on to win the Critics Choice Award at the Brit Awards 2016.

We then jumped straight on to the next artist profile: English punk duo ‘Slaves’.
In the first month, the Slaves animation racked up over 21,000 views on the BBC iPlayer, gaining a further 20,000 online and through social media. The animation is also being used around the BBC internally to explain BBC Introducing and its public service value, going right up to the most senior level.

BBC Introducing is working with a wealth of new musical talent and this collaboration with Contra is set for an exciting future.
